This was my first attempt at a sunset shoot.
Again, a learning exercise for me.
North’s Lookout is a less touristy location for sunsets but is spectacular IF you have a broken cloudy sky.
It provides a stunning view into the Megalong Valley with cliff walls on each side. The foreground is a deep gully called Nellie’s Glen – famous as being the steep descent start of the 40+km Six Foot Track from Katoomba to Jenolan Caves. It is a small 15m platform with steel railing as it is perched on the rocky cliff edge.

Getting there: Park in the large car park just off Nellies Glen Road, (see map). Then follow the Six Foot Track for approx. 10-15 mins down a moderately steep incline. At the point you see the track veer sharp right to Nellies Glen steps, you will see a steel gate/barrier ahead. Go through this barrier and walk another 5 minutes to the lookout.
